YouTube channel, Facebook group aim to fight dementia, other diseases

YouTube and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) launched an Internet video channel about incurable neurodegenerative brain diseases. The multimedia YouTube channel is part of an overall Internet campaign that aims to help UCSF's researchers and clinicians educate a global audience about these diseases. The channel features UCSF's clinical researchers discussing disease characteristics, as well as personal stories of patients and family members, advice, and coping strategies from healthcare professionals.

UCSF's Internet campaign also includes its Memory and Aging Center Web site, a "Defeat Dementia-Know More Now" widget, a "Defeat Dementia" Facebook Group, and a partnership with Veodia for live, real-time video broadcasting.
